Hyperhidrosis Treatment Overview

Excessive Sweating (Hyperhidrosis), is a common problem which can create a lot of unhappiness for those who suffer with it. Common areas include the underarm area, palms and soles of the feet.

Sweating can be embarrassing, it stains clothes and can sometimes complicate business and social interactions. Hyperhidrosis refers to any abnormal sweating, such as sweating when it’s not exactly hot.

Dr Aisling Lalor, offers Botox™ as an effective treatment of Hyperhidrosis. Botox™ injections are used to treat a wide variety of medical conditions. When administered correctly by a registered clinician, Botox™ is a very safe treatment.
If you’ve tried using prescription antiperspirants with no change to your sweating, then perhaps this may be the answer for you.

Additional Information

How do Botox™ injections work?

Botox™ works by blocking the nerves responsible for activating your sweat glands. Normally, your nervous system activates your sweat glands when your body temperature rises. This is how your body automatically cools itself down.

When you receive Botox™ directly into the area where your hyperhidrosis occurs, your overactive nerves are paralysed. When the nerves can’t send the signal over to your sweat glands, you don’t sweat. It is important to note that, Botox™ will will only prevent sweating in the exact area of the body where it’s administered.

How long does Botox™ last?

The effects of Botox™ are temporary, which means you will need repeat visits in the future. The length of time between appointments will vary, as everyone reacts differently. For underarm sweating, dryness can last from 4-14 months. Results may not lost as long for hands and feet.
