Associate Dentist Special Interest – Implants IDC No. 1418
Every patient’s needs and desires for their dental treatment are different, which is why Dr Tristan Hartung likes to take a personal and comprehensive approach to dentistry. His focus is to create a comfortable and stress-free environment for his patients and use modern technology to work towards predictable and high-quality results. Tristan’s path in the field of dentistry started at Hanover Medical School where he completed his undergraduate course in Dentistry in 2017. Straight after, he left Germany to live on Irish shores – a journey that his mother, also a dentist, had done in reverse when she left her native Kilkenny for the port city of Hamburg in the 80s.
Tristan started working at Friel & McGahon Dental in Dundalk, a practice committed to providing quality care to the community. His academic journey was far from over though, as he was enrolled in a research programme specialising in medical robotics at his alma mater. His findings were published in The International Journal of Medical Robotics and Computer Assisted Surgery in 2018. Two years later, his work was further recognised when he earned his Postgraduate Doctorate in Dentistry with great distinction.
Dr Hartung’s professional journey continued at Eyre Square Dental in Galway City, a super-regional referral clinic for dental implantology and aesthetic dentistry. Working closely with Dr Eoin Fleetwood, Tristan embraced modern digital treatment planning technologies, and gained extensive experience with implant-based restoration options.
Tristan’s commitment to professional growth led him to the London College of Implantology, where he completed a rigorous year-long course to attain a Certificate in Oral Implantology. Led by renowned Swedish Implantologist Sam Parsno, and with contributions from guest speakers from the United Kingdom and Spain, Tristan graduated from the course in 2023 passing the final examination as best-in-class.
Tristan’s passion is making sure his patients have a wide range of dental treatments to choose from. He loves figuring out exactly what they need to keep their teeth healthy or to restore them to their best. And he’s all about using the latest technology to make dental visits comfortable and transparent.
When Tristan isn’t taking care of teeth, he’s enjoying life with his wife Siobhán. He enjoys playing Gaelic Football with his local team in County Louth, and when possible he likes to travel
to Germany to visit friends and family.
