If my child has a hole in a baby tooth – should it be fixed?

March 30, 2021

➡️ Q. If my child has a hole in a baby tooth – should it be fixed?
💬 A. Yes. A hole in a baby tooth if left untreated can lead to a sore tooth and eventually an infection. A tooth infection is more commonly known as an abscess. When a baby tooth gets an abscess the adult tooth growing underneath the baby tooth is at risk.
Root canal treatment or dental extraction are the options to treat an abscess on a baby tooth.
If there is a hole in a baby tooth it is so important to detect it and fix it before the tooth becomes sore and has an abscess. Fixing the hole in the tooth will be less complex and challenging for your child.
