Advent is upon us and the countdown to Christmas begins. For many families this not only signifies a chocolate treat each day, but also a little visitor in your homes. We’re not talking about the big man himself, but his scout elves. How many of you have an elf on your shelf?
Originating in the US The Elf on the Shelf®: A Christmas Tradition includes a special scout elf sent from the North Pole to help Santa Claus manage his naughty and nice lists. When a family adopts a scout elf and gives it a name, the scout elf receives its Christmas magic and can fly to the North Pole each night to tell Santa Claus about all of the day’s adventures. Each morning, the scout elf returns to its family and perches in a different place to watch the fun. Children love to wake up and race around the house looking for their scout elf each morning.
For many families the magic begins with an elf door. This is the same one used by the tooth fairy to enter your home undetected in the night. We have scouted the elf forums and social media pages to give you some fun ideas for your elf antics. Of course, this tradition is a fab way of prompting good oral hygiene with your children, although, we don’t recommend you use the toothbrushes again after some of this elf mischief. It’s a good thing Santa brings a brand new toothbrush in the stocking each year.
Liberty Smith: Mine have brought my kids special teeth pillows when they lost a tooth
MJ Janes: we have spelt sayings out in toothpaste on mirror. oldest was having problems at school, so our elf would say things along line of, don’t hide away, be honest, keep smiling (had teeth sweets stuck to mirror aswell) etc eldest said she liked that she could talk to the elf.
Elaine Green: I plan on this year using disclosing tablets just before my daughter wakes up on my husband… and positioning Elfie with a tooth brush and a mouth mirror so it looks like he’s turned his mouth purple…. I’ll leave a note asking how well she brushes her teeth… as if not very good he’ll turn her mouth purple like daddy’s!
