Inman Aligner

Go Back To Orthodontics

Inman Aligner Overview

Straighter teeth without the fuss. The Inman Aligner is a convenient and quick adult orthodontic option which can be used to correct moderate crowding and protrusion of the teeth.

The Inman Aligner is used for treating the top and bottom front teeth and unlike conventional braces, they are removable and are worn for around 16-20 hours a day.

The Inman Aligner is not new technology and has been around for over 8 years but has recently been given some new attention within the media and now the world is fascinated yet again by the advantages when compared to the likes of clear aligners.

Call us today for complimentary consultation, usually €75.00. Only certified Inman Aligner dentists can provide them, Dr. Eamon O’Reilly of Boyne Dental has achieved this certification. Why not come in, have a chat and see what your best options are?

Additional Information

How does it work?

The Inman Aligner is a clear plastic retainer with two spring-loaded aligning bars that fit easily over the front four teeth. Unlike a regular brace, the Inman Aligner provides a constant gentle pressure on the teeth, easing them back into place far more quickly.

Apart from its aesthetic benefits, the Inman Aligner is easy to use and can be inserted and removed at any time, allowing eating, brushing (and kissing) to continue as normal. Once teeth have moved to the desired position, a very discreet retainer holds them in place, so they remain in their new position.

How long does it take?

During the first consultation, an impression is made of the teeth and in the second, teeth are smoothed to make room for movement and the aligner fitted. For the duration of the treatment monthly visits approx 15mins are required to review and adjust the aligner.

The period in which you will need to wear your aligner in order to see results will vary from person to person but generally it will take from 6-18 weeks to see significant results. At your initial consultation, you will be advised on the most realistic time scale necessary.

Does it hurt?

Some patients will initially have a mild discomfort for the first week or so after fitting the appliance.

Will the Inman Aligner affect my speech?

The Inman Aligner will affect your speech for a week or two. You will however get used to the appliances over time and be able to speak with ease again.

What's involved with treatment?

Firstly, when you have decided to go with the Inman aligner, an impression/mould of your mouth will be taken in order to make your aligner as custom-fit and comfortable as possible.

You will then return to have your aligner fitted at a different appointment a few weeks later.

When fitted, you will wear your aligner from 16-20 hours a day.

Your dentist will suggest making regular check-ins with the practice to ensure that all is going to plan and there are no issues with the aligner itself.

When the time comes to stop wearing your aligner and you are happy with the results, there will be a retainer made to ensure that the teeth do not begin to move back into their original positions, as is the case with most braces.
